经过 Ubuntu 开发团队 6 个月的努力后，搭载全新用户界面、具有里程碑意义的新版 Ubuntu 11.04 现已正式发布，官方主页也已更新。此版本的开发代号为 Natty Narwhal ，新版的 Ubuntu 11.04 不再提供上网本版本，现在只区分为 Ubuntu Desktop 和 Ubuntu Server 两种版本。

- 主要特性
采用最新的 Linux kernel 2.6.38 稳定内核，及包括 GCC4.5、Python 2.7、dpkg 1.16.0-pre、Upstart 0.9 ，X.org 1.10.0 和 Mesa 7.10.1等基础组件。
搭载了基于 Gnome 2 自主研发的全新 Unity 用户界面，整合了 Compiz 3D 混合窗口管理器，带来了 Unity Launcher 、全局菜单等大量新特性。
默认软件方面，浏览器采用 FireFox 4 ，办公套件采用 LibreOffice ，音乐播放器为 Banshee ，看图软件为 Shotwell ，邮件客户端为 Evolution 等。
整合了支持 Twitter、Facebook 等的社交工具 Gwibber，云存储服务 Ubuntu One，软件中心 Software Center 等等实用工具。
